This week I’ve shared my favorite fall cocktail and my favorite fall dinner, but we can’t end the week without mentioning my favorite fall drink. I am not the girl who goes to Starbucks and orders a pumpkin spice latte. In general, I don’t order straight off the menu at Starbucks (or any coffee shop) because they are always wayy to sweet for me. This fall, I have been enjoying their pumpkin cold brew with no vanilla in it, but even that edges a little too sweet if that gives you an idea of where I am at it on the subject.
All of that to say, I decided to make a “PSL” at home that was more pumpkin and spice and less sweet and dairy. You can make it with almond milk like I do here, or you can use any dairy that makes you happy. You can use oat milk too. A weird word of caution, Aldi milk (even the organic) does not froth, so please don’t buy your milk there if you are going to make this recipe.
If you have a milk frother (I LOVE this one) you can make this even easier. Follow the steps below but skip the saucepan and just put the ingredients straight into your frother.
Homemade Almond Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients
Spoonful of organic pumpkin puree (homemade recipe coming this fall)
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Honey
1/2 cup Unsweetened Original Almond Milk (or other milk)
2 shots of espresso (I use a medium roast Nespresso pod for this) or 2/3 cup strongly brewed coffee in your favorite mug
To Make
Put milk, honey (to taste, I use just a teeny bit), and pumpkin into a small saucepan on medium heat. Whisk to incorporate honey and pumpkin. As soon as it begins to boil, whisk vigorously. Add pumpkin spice to taste (a few shakes should do it).
Pour frothy milk over the espresso or coffee. Top with a little sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or just plain cinnamon.
Enjoy sitting by a foggy window looking at fall foliage!
